September 22, 2025 - The Office of Community Services announced the release of nearly $2.3 million in FY 2024 LIHEAP reallotment funds. These funds must be obligated by no later than the end of the current federal fiscal year on September 30 or included in the grant recipient's 10 percent carryover from FY 2025 into FY 2026 and obligated by September 30, 2026.
These reallotted funds are a redistribution of unobligated FY 2024 funds and is based on Carryover and Reallotment reports beginning May 19, 2025. The final reallotment includes $309,430 in IIJA funds to be redistributed in FY 2026). All grant recipients except 13 states and 66 tribes received reallotment funds. The 13 states that did not awarded funds were due to adjustments related to a provision in the current appropriation legislation that requires HHS to ensure every state receives no less than 97 percent of their prior year's LIHEAP regular block grant award. The 66 tribes were not awarded funding due to prior agreements or minimum award thresholds.
